Accounting Services Operational Changes
|
Accounting Services & Controls, like many departments is facing significant budget reductions in the current and next fiscal year. Faced with these reductions, we have evaluated many of our services to campus, and as a result will be making several changes with the start of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2009. Below is a summary of the primary changes. To discuss these changes and show enhancements to current systems, we will be hosting a “Showcase” on April 21st and May 6th. More information and registration information will be coming soon.
General Accounting
As both a cost saving measure and campus sustainability issue, we will no longer print and distribute the paper General Ledger, effective July 1, 2009. (Departments will still receive a paper “Final” ledger for FY 2008-09, if they are not already on the “Opt Out” list.) The Online General Ledger provides the ability for departments to print or export the General Ledger as needed. We will also be enhancing some features in the next few months, to be demonstrated at our Showcase.
Payroll
Several paper reports are moving to the Data Warehouse. While this will reduce costs, housing the reports in the Data Warehouse will also enable departments to view, print, or schedule these reports on demand, and will allow departments access to the data much quicker than the previous paper distribution. Beginning July 1, 2009, starting with July data, we will no longer print and distribute the following reports:
Leave Reporting Worksheet
Time Benefits Roster
Distribution of Payroll Expense
We appreciate your understanding during these difficult times, and your patience as we move to new ways of doing business. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at jim.corkill@accounting.ucsb.edu, or x5882.
