Payroll
The Payroll unit is responsible for providing a variety of services to the campus community in the area of general payroll management. It serves as a collection point for input and processing of salaried and non-salaried appointments and related staff benefit programs.
The key functions of this division are:
Production, timeliness and propriety of payments to employees.
Distribution of funds deducted from employees' pay to federal and state tax agencies, insurance companies, etc.
Filing returns to satisfy federal and state agency reporting requirements.
Disposition of Checks
UCSB offers two methods of payment, either check or Direct Deposit (automatic deposit).
Direct Deposit
Direct Deposit Automatic Deposit has proven to be an efficient and convenient method of depositing a payroll check directly into a participating employee's designated checking or savings account. This service is an electronic system that allows an employee's net earnings to be deposited on payday. An earnings statement is sent to each individual employee which provides all of the information that is customarily contained on a paycheck stub.
Currently, approximatlely 80% of UCSB career and graduate student employees are taking advantage of Direct Deposit.
